    Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (CSCC-HN) appears to behave more aggressively in immunosuppressed patients. We aimed to investigate this hypothesis by comparing solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) with CSCC-HN to immunocompetent patients.

    A retrospective comparative study was conducted for SOTR and immunocompetent patients who were treated for CSCC-HN.

    A total of 177 SOTR and 157 immunocompetent patients with CSCC-HN were included. Lymph node metastases were more common in the SOTR group (9% vs 3%), and distant metastases occurred only in SOTR (3% of patients). SOTR had a higher rate of recurrences (19% vs 10%), which were mostly regional (7%) and distant (3%). The 2-year disease-specific survival of SOTR was lower (93% vs 100%).

Their findings contribute to preliminary evidence that Medicaid HCBS waivers provide economic benefit at the state and federal level, reduce unmet healthcare needs, increase the likelihood that parents will be able to continue working, and reduce racial disparities in access to care. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of anxiety and sleep disturbance at the early stage of the pandemic, and unveil the information coping process underlying differential susceptibility to COVID-19 infection anxiety and sleep disturbance. The participants were 1,270 adults (47% men, Mage = 42.82) from the UK and US who completed initial (Time 1) and follow-up (Time 2) surveys from 16 to 22 March and 18 to 24 May 2020, respectively. The prevalence of probable clinically relevant anxiety was 61% and 45% at the first and second time points, and more than half of the participants in this anxiety group also reported mild to severe sleep disturbance. Moreover, 41% of the participants perceived themselves as not having enough COVID-19-related information and reported higher levels of COVID-19 infection anxiety and sleep disturbance over time than those who perceived themselves as having enough of such information. Moderated mediation analysis identified two groups who were more vulnerable to both psychological problems high blunters who sought COVID-19-related information online more frequently and high monitors who sought such information offline less frequently. These findings highlight the importance of a good match between information coping style and strategy deployment in dealing with an infodemic surrounding a novel disease.

    Opportunities to embed and evaluate evidence-based practice (EBP) competency in the clinical setting across nursing curricula are not well described in the literature.

    This research aims to describe how clinical learning environments influence senior nursing students’ integration of EBP competencies in their practice and perceptions of EBP competence development in a traditional baccalaureate nursing program.

    A sequential, mixed-methods design was used with senior students upon completion of their last two clinical experiences in the nursing program. Students completed the EBP Work Environment Scale (Pryse, McDaniel, & Schafer, 2014) and semi-structured interviews.

    Students appraised EBP Work Environments positively during preceptor-led experiences as opposed to instructor-led, group clinical experiences. Students described the evolution of emerging EBP competence throughout their nursing education and emphasized the importance of coursework in intentionally developing EBP competence.

    Assessment of clinical experiences and models that contribute to EBP competence is needed.
