    Surface PM2.5 concentrations are required for exposure assessment studies. Remotely sensed Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) has been used to derive PM2.5 where ground data is unavailable. However, two key challenges in estimating surface PM2.5 from AOD using statistical models are (i) Satellite data gaps, and (ii) spatio-temporal variability in AOD-PM2.5 relationships. In this study, we estimated spatially continuous (0.03° × 0.03°) daily surface PM2.5 concentrations using MAIAC AOD over Madhya Pradesh (MP), central India for 2018 and 2019, and validated our results against surface measurements. Daily MAIAC AOD gaps were filled using MERRA-2 AOD. Imputed AOD together with MERRA-2 meteorology and land use information were then used to develop a linear mixed effect (LME) model. Finally, a geographically weighted regression was developed using the LME output to capture spatial variability in AOD-PM2.5 relationship. Final Cross-Validation (CV) correlation coefficient, r2, between modelled and observed PM2.5 varied from 0.359 to 0.689 while the Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) varied from 15.83 to 35.85 µg m-3, over the entire study region during the study period. Strong seasonality was observed with winter seasons (2018 and 2019) PM2.5 concentration (mean value 82.54 µg m-3) being the highest and monsoon seasons being the lowest (mean value of 32.10 µg m-3). Our results show that MP had a mean PM2.5 concentration of 58.19 µg m-3 and 56.32 µg m-3 for 2018 and 2019, respectively, which likely caused total premature deaths of 0.106 million (0.086, 0.128) at the 95% confidence interval including 0.056 million (0.045, 0.067) deaths due to Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD), 0.037 million (0.031, 0.045) due to strokes, 0.012 million (0.009, 0.014) due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and 1.2 thousand (1.0, 1.5) due to lung cancer (LNC) during this period.Uraemic toxins increase in serum parallel to a decline in the glomerular filtration rate and the development of sarcopenia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study analyses the role of uraemic toxins in sarcopenia at different stages of CKD, evaluating changes in the muscular regeneration process. Cultured C2C12 cells were incubated with a combination of indoxyl sulphate and p-cresol at high doses (100 µg/mL) or low doses (25 µg/mL and 10 µg/mL) resembling late or early CKD stages, respectively. Cell proliferation (analysed by scratch assays and flow cytometry) was inhibited only by high doses of uraemic toxins, which inactivated the cdc2-cyclin B complex, inhibiting mitosis and inducing apoptosis (analysed by annexin V staining). By contrast, low doses of uraemic toxins did not affect proliferation, but reduced myogenic differentiation, primed with 2% horse serum, by inhibiting myogenin expression and promoting fibro-adipogenic differentiation. Finally, to assess the in vivo relevance of these results, studies were performed in gastrocnemii from uraemic rats, which showed higher collagen expression and lower myosin heavy chain expression than those from healthy rats. In conclusion, uraemic toxins impair the skeletal muscular regeneration process, even at low concentrations, suggesting that sarcopenia can progress from the early stages of CKD.Ramp sequences increase translational speed and accuracy when rare, slowly-translated codons are found at the beginnings of genes. Here, the results of the first analysis of ramp sequences in a phylogenetic construct are presented. Ramp sequences were compared from 247 vertebrates (114 Mammalian and 133 non-mammalian), where the presence and absence of ramp sequences was analyzed as a binary character in a parsimony and maximum likelihood framework. Additionally, ramp sequences were mapped to the Open Tree of Life synthetic tree to determine the number of parallelisms and reversals that occurred, and those results were compared to random permutations. Parsimony and maximum likelihood analyses of the presence and absence of ramp sequences recovered phylogenies that are highly congruent with established phylogenies. The objectives of the current study in a large sample of AN inpatients were to assess the relationships between anxiety and depression symptoms and nutritional status both over the course of inpatient treatment and at discharge. 222 consecutive inpatients with AN (DSM-IV TR) were assessed (entrance and discharge) for duration of illness, psychiatric treatments, sociodemographic data and with psychometric scales for different psychopathological symptoms . Nutritional status was assessed with Body Mass Index (BMI) and body composition by bioelectrical impedance. The Fat free mass index was considered for the analysis. Two models were developed where the dependent variables were each psychopathological score at discharge (BDI, HAD anxiety, MOCI, and LSAS fear) in the cross-sectional model, and their variation in the longitudinal model (where a positive score reflected symptom decrease at discharge). A fixed set of predictors, defined on presumed clinical and statistical relevance (FFMI in the cross-sectional model and Variation of FFMI in the longitudinal model), were considered in each model, without any model selection procedure. This is the first study to confirm a positive relationship between the course of eating disorder symptoms and that of anxious-depressive symptoms during inpatient treatment of AN even after adjustment on a vast array of possibly confounding factors.
