Understanding the distal (≤ 6 years of age) and proximal (between 6 years of age and early adolescence) factors in adolescent risk behavior is important for preventing and reducing morbidity and mortality in this population. This study sought to investigate the factors associated with the following adolescent risk behaviors i) aggressiveness and violence, ii) tobacco, alcohol, and illicit substance use, iii) depressive behavior and self-harm (including suicidal ideation and attempts), iv) sexual risk behavior, and v) multiple risk behavior.

A systematic review was conducted to identify longitudinal studies that examined factors associated with adolescent risk behaviors. The PubMed, PsycINFO, and LILACS databases were searched.

Of the 249 included studies, 23% reported distal risk factors, while the remaining reported proximal risk factors. Risk factors were related to sociodemographic characteristics (neighborhood, school, and peers), family patterns, and the presence of other adolescent risk behaviors.

Distal and proximal factors in adolescent risk behavior that are not exclusively socioeconomic, familial, environmental, or social should be explored more thoroughly.

To evaluate the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy in the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder during pregnancy and its effects on gestational age and birth weight.

The sample included 28 untreated patients and 23 patients treated with CBT. Psychiatric diagnoses were determined through the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV. Symptom severity was assessed with standardized rating scales.

Post-treatment levels of anxiety symptoms were significantly lower than baseline. There was no significant difference in gestational age or newborn birth weight between the cognitive behavioral therapy group and the untreated group.

Cognitive behavioral therapy appears to be a safe and effective treatment for generalized anxiety disorder during pregnancy.

To analyze the repercussions on the life of the elderly after joining a coexistence center and the existing challenges from the perspective of the participants and their families.

Qualitative research conducted with 16 elderly from a coexistence center and 14 family members. Data were collected through individual interviews and subjected to content analysis.

Two thematic categories were identified “Before and after changes in the life of the elderly after joining the coexistence center” and “Aspects needed to improve care in the coexistence center”. Final Considerations The benefits of older people’s participation in the service are evidenced by changes in lifestyle and interrelationships. However, there is a need to expand assistance in these institutions, with a multidisciplinary team trained in gerontogeriatric care, as well as to consider the importance of nursing as a science of care and insert it in this service.

To analyze the concept of “frailty syndrome” in the literature, according to the method proposed by Walker and Avant.

It is a concept analysis, guided by the method proposed by Walker and Avant, made operational through an integrative literature review. The search in a scientific database was carried out using the descriptors Frail elderly, syndrome, phenotype, geriatric assessment, and aging. Nanchangmycin The literary corpus comprised 66 studies.

The study found the antecedents and attributes (categorized as physical, sociodemographic, and behavioral/environmental) that integrate the signs and symptoms evidenced in the “frailty syndrome,” as well as the consequences of this concept. The variables were analyzed with emphasis on the conceptions that influence the frailty process of the elderly.

The study demonstrated the complexity arising from the multifactorial genesis of the referred syndrome, emphasizing the specificities of the elderly’s frailty. However, we recommend conducting further research involving the phenomenon in question to understand the construct better.

To ascertain the characteristics of the nursing care provided to institutionalized elderly people with dementia.

Integrative review of studies published between 2013 and 2017, in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, from the databases BDENF, LILACS, CINAHL, PubMed, SciELO, TRIP, and National Guideline Clearing House. Thematic data analysis was used.

From the data collected in the 41 included studies, three themes emerged Care with a focus on the needs of elderly people in LTCIEs; Care based on the work process of the nursing team; and Shared care. Final considerations Elderly care can take place from different perspectives that of the elderly; the nursing team; and it can be shared among the different parties involved. The importance of communication must be stressed, as do the development of skills and attitudes of the team, as well as proper training and support, good environment in the care process, and an approach centered on the institutionalized elderly.
