However, the experimental group showed a higher increased perception of the importance of EBM in decision making in clinical practice (60.0% vs 77.2%; χ
(1, N=318) = 8.432, p=0.004). These students obtained a better understanding of the complexities and time-consuming nature of EBM in medical practice.
The practice-based EBM-course helps students to reflect on practice and knowledge critically. Our findings indicate that integrating clinical practice in the undergraduate learning environment fosters attitude and motivation, suggesting that practice-based learning in EBM education may advance student development as a critically reflective practitioner.

These medications may affect the liver disease. Due to the complexity of medical problems in patients with chronic liver disease, treating clinicians benefit from targeted guidance for their care. The exposure of methylmercury (MeHg) has become a public health concern because of its neurotoxic effect. Various neurological symptoms were detected in Minamata disease patients, who got intoxicated by MeHg, including paresthesia, ataxia, gait disturbance, sensory disturbances, tremors, visual, and hearing impairments, indicating that MeHg could pass the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and cause impairment of neurons and other brain cells. Endocrinology chemical Previous studies have reported some expected mechanisms of MeHg-induced neurotoxicity including the neuroinflammation pathway. It was characterized by the up-regulation of numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines expression. Therefore, the use of anti-inflammatories such as N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) may act as a preventive compound to protect the brain from MeHg harmful effects. This mini-review will explain detailed information on MeHg-induced pro-inflammatory cytokines activation as well as possible preventive strategies using anti-inflammation NAC to protect brain cells, particularly in in vivo and in vitro studies. Objectives To evaluate the effects of nifedipine treatment on fetal hemodynamics and cardiac function during preterm labor. This prospective study assessed several quantitative parameters of fetal cardiac circulation and function, and found no significant changes at 48 h after nifedipine treatment. These findings suggest that tocolytic nifedipine may be safe for fetuses. It supports clinicians to use nifedipine treatment for tocolysis without any cardiac effect on the fetus. Methods A prospective cohort study was conducted at a tertiary hospital between January 2016 and October 2017. A total of 45 pregnant women who required nifedipine for preterm labor were included in this study. Fetal Doppler ultrasound was performed and fetal systolic and diastolic function was measured prior to, and 48 h after, the first nifedipine treatment. Conventional Doppler parameters were used to evaluate fetal heart function and hemodynamic changes. Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion, mitral annular plane systolic excursion and the sphericity index were also evaluated to assess changes in fetal cardiac morphology. Results No significant changes in fetal Doppler parameters were observed following nifedipine tocolysis. There was no significant difference in the fetal cardiac function parameters of both ventricles before vs. after nifedipine treatment. Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion, mitral annular plane systolic excursion, and sphericity index values were unchanged following nifedipine treatment. Conclusions Oral administration of nifedipine did not to alter fetal cardiac function or morphology. Fetal cardiac parameters and various Doppler indices were unchanged following nifedipine treatment. Maternal nifedipine treatment does not appear to have any significant effect on fetal cardiac function. Objectives MR compatible incubators (MRcI) offer the examination of preterm and critically ill infants in controlled environment. The aim of the study was to compare objective and subjective image quality as well as diagnostic value of MRI brain examinations with and without using the MRcI. Thus, predictive value of brain MRI at expected delivery date in general was investigated. Methods This retrospective study included MRI brain examinations conducted at patients’ corrected age ≤6 months and presence of four standard sequences (PD TSE transversal, T2 TSE transversal, T2 TSE sagittal and T1 SE transversal). Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR) was calculated. Subjective image quality was estimated using a 5-point Likert scale. Findings of MRI were compared with those of previous transfontanellar ultrasound because of additional diagnostic information. Severe brain abnormality scaled by score of Kidokoro was related to results of Munich Functional Developmental Diagnostics (MFDD) within first year. Results One hundred MRI brain examinations (76 with MRcI, 24 without MRcI) were performed in 79 patients. Using the MRcI SNR and CNR were significantly higher in PD- and in T2-weighted sequences (p less then 0.05). TSE PD transversal demonstrated a higher risk of non-diagnostic quality using MRcI (OR 5.23; 95%-CI 1.86-14.72). MRcI revealed additional diagnostic information (OR 5.69; 95%-CI 1.15-28.24). Severe brain abnormality was associated with walking deficits (r=0.570; p=0.021). Conclusions The MRcI increased objective image quality and revealed additional diagnostic information to transfontanellar ultrasound. Nevertheless, prediction of infants’ future development remains limited. Objectives To evaluate the level of knowledge of pregnant women and puerpers about oral health and prevention during and after gestation. Methods One hundred women aged 18-49 years (mean age 33±6 years) were included in this cross-sectional study. An anonymous questionnaire with 24 items related to oral health has been administered during or just after pregnancy. Firstly, answers have been analyzed on the full population and then subdividing the sample on the base of age ranges (G1 18-25 years, G2 26-35 years and G3 >35 years) and number of pregnancies (FP first pregnancy; SP second or more pregnancies). Parametric tests have been chosen for the statistical analysis; in particular, Anova test for independent samples was used to evaluate differences of baseline demographic characteristics among subgroups G1, G2, G3 while chi-square test was used for FP and SP subgroups. Anova test was also used to intercept differences on answers given to the questionnaire among G1, G2 and G3 group; for FP and SP group was used t-test.
