This misalignment within couples was pronounced during the initial session and decreased by the midtreatment session, reflecting progression toward treatment goals. Of the latent growth curve models, only client sustain talk during the midtreatment session predicted greater client drinking at the end of treatment. Results provide insight into the inner workings of ABCT and suggest recommendations for ABCT therapists. This study also supports a growing consensus that sustain talk may be a stronger mechanism of change than change talk in various alcohol treatment interventions.
To evaluate the relation between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and vaginal atrophy (VA) in 518 women across the menopausal age span (40-55 years of age).
Multicentre, cross-sectional study.
VA was evaluated by the contemporaneous presence of a pH > 5, vaginal dryness and at least one objective sign of VA (mucosal pallor, dryness, thinning, fragility or with petechiae)., LUTS were evaluated by the Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI-6). Sexuality was evaluated by the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI).
Women were categorized by age group 1, 40-45 years; group 2, 46-48 years; group 3, 49-51 years; and group 4, 52-55 years. Similar rates of recurrent urinary infection (RUI) were present in different age groups. RUI rate was related to VA (OR 1.703, 95 %CI 1.037, 2.799) and dyspareunia (OR 2.060, 95 %CI 1.199, 3.539). The rates of LUTS were also similar in the different age groups or in the presence of VA. The LUTS rate was related to dyspareunia (OR 1.971, 95 %CI 1.020, 3.808). Distress from LUTS rate was related to dyspareunia (OR 1.971, 95 %CI 1.020, 3.808). Distress from LUTS was similar among different age groups and in the presence of VA. It was related to RUI (CR 7.187, 95 %CI 3.532, 10.841; p less then 0.0001) and being an ex-smoker (CR 5.189, 95 %CI 1.425. 6.952; p less then 0.007), and was inversely related to FSFI score (CR -0.314, 95 %CI -0.478, -0.149; p less then 0.0002), CONCLUSIONS In women across the menopausal age span, RUI, but not LUTS, is related to VA. The presence of LUTS is related to dyspareunia, and distress from LUTS is inversely related to sexuality. These results obtained in women across the menopausal age span are not applicable to older postmenopausal women.
Progesterone receptor membrane component-1 (PGRMC1) in breast cancer tissue has been suggested to predict a worse prognosis. The aim of this study was to assess for the first time whether PGRMC1 expressed in cancer tissue is associated with PGRMC1 blood concentrations and whether both are correlated with clinical tumour characteristics known to predict a worse outcome.
In total, 201 patients with invasive breast cancer and 65 with benign breast disease (control group) were recruited. PGRMC1 blood concentrations were measured by a recently developed ELISA, PGRMC1 in breast cancer tissue was assessed by immunohistochemistry, and the correlation between the two was calculated. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess area under the curve (AUC). Furthermore, PGRMC1 was correlated with tumour characteristics such as tumour diameter, tumour grade and metastatic status, and with known blood tumour markers.
AUC for the breast cancer group was 0.713, which was significantly highe CA125, CA153 and TPS.Supplementation with calcium (Ca) and/or vitamin D (vitD) is key to the management of osteoporosis. Other supplements like vitamin K2 (VitK2) and magnesium (Mg) could contribute to the maintenance of skeletal health. This narrative review summarizes the most recent data on Ca, vitD, vitK2 and Mg supplementation and age-related bone and muscle loss. Ca supplementation alone is not recommended for fracture prevention in the general postmenopausal population. Patients at risk of fracture with insufficient dietary intake and absorption could benefit from calcium supplementation, but it needs to be customized, taking into account possible side-effects and degree of adherence. VitD supplementation is essential in patients at risk of fracture and/or vitD deficiency. VitK2 and Mg both appear to be involved in bone metabolism. Data suggest that VitK2 supplementation might improve bone quality and reduce fracture risk in osteoporotic patients, potentially enhancing the efficacy of Ca ± vitD. Mg deficiency could negatively influence bone and muscle health. However, data regarding the efficacy of vitK2 and Mg supplementation on bone are inconclusive.
To compare the effects of a 12-week course of 5%Pueraria mirifica gel and placebo gel on the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis, vaginal fungi, vaginal pH, vaginal health index (VHI), and genitourinary symptoms in postmenopausal women.
In a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study (TCTR20160517002), 60 postmenopausal women were randomly assigned to a 12-week course of eitherP. mirifica gel or identical placebo gel.
Vaginal Nugent score, fungal culture, pH, VHI, and genitourinary symptoms were evaluated at baseline and after 12 weeks of treatment.
After 12 weeks of treatment, the proportion of participants with an abnormal Nugent score in the P. mirifica and the placebo groups were 6.7 % (2/30) and 23.3 % (7/30), respectively (p = 0.006). The mean changes in Nugent scores and VHI were significantly higher in the P. mirifica group (p < 0.05). There were no significant decreases in the prevalence of symptoms between the two groups after treatment (p > 0.05).
A 12-week course of treatment with 5 % P. mirifica vaginal gel in postmenopausal women with GSM has been proved to be effective in reducing indicators of bacterial vaginosis compared with placebo gel. Nevertheless, the effect on alleviating genital symptoms was not demonstrated.

To determine the prevalence and severity of menopausal symptoms and their related risk factors among middle-aged Korean women according to their reproductive stages.
This cross-sectional study included 3039 Korean women, aged 45-65 years, who attended their routine health checkup. Their scores from the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) were compared and participants were categorized into four groups according to stage of menopause premenopause, early menopause (≤2 years from their last menstruation), mid-menopause (2-8 years), and late menopause (>8 years).
The mean age of the participants was 52.81 ± 5.39 years, and 98.5 % of them reported one or more symptoms included in the MRS. find more The most common symptom was physical/mental exhaustion, experienced by 86.7 % of participants. The prevalence of moderate to severe symptoms, including vasomotor symptoms, heart discomfort, sleep problems, sexual problems, vaginal dryness, and joint/muscular discomfort, increased in the early menopausal period. This increased in the late menopausal period compared with its prevalence at premenopause.
