Computational fluid dynamic modeling of arteriovenous fistula can be used to understand the physiologic basis of clinical observations of function. Evaluation of the effect of inflow artery length and diameter helps explain the higher flows seen in arteriovenous fistula created using large caliber arteries for inflow. Computational fluid dynamic modeling helps operators understand the contributions of inflow artery in access function and can guide anastomotic site selection.

However, this method is labor intensive, time-consuming and very difficult for non-specialists particularly when dealing with field collections. Suborder Aplousobranchiata and Phlebobranchiata is the largest group of tunicates within, morphological and molecular data suggest that Didemnidae and Ascidiidae are monophyletic, but the monophyly of each genus and their phylogenetic relationships are still poorly understood. Therefore, this study was aimed to develop DNA barcodes of ascidians belonging to the orders of Aplousobranchiata and Phlebobranchiata species namely Diplosoma listerianum, Lissoclinum fragile, Didemnum psammatode, Phallusia fumigata and Phallusia ingeria collected from Andaman and Nicobar Islands were sequenced and submitted in Gen Bank. Colony structure, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for spicules of colonial ascidians, larval type and zooids formation were found to be the most useful morphological characters for discriminating the species. Our BLAST results proved D. Listerianum KP842724 (98%) L. Tyloxapol fragile KP842726 (100%) D. psammatode KP779902 (99%), P. fumigata KP779904 (99%) and P. ingeria KP842727 (100%) similarity and this is the first report of mitochondrial COI gene of these ascidians from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We explored the usefulness of CO1 gene sequences for molecular level identification and mtDNA data in assessing a phylogenetic relationship of ascidian species.

Patients with first-episode schizophrenia spectrum psychosis (FEP) are at risk of not visiting an out-patient psychiatrist and are assigned disability status within a short period after diagnosis.

The aim of this study was to conduct a naturalistic follow-up of FEP patients to explore their use of mental healthcare services and the rate of assigned disability status after FEP.

This was the first study in Latvia to include all consecutive patients with FEP admitted to the largest regional hospital in South East Latvia, Daugavpils Psychoneurological Hospital (DPNH). Patients received standard treatment in a real-world environment. The mean follow-up time was 33months (Min = 20months, Max = 40months).

From the 94 consecutive FEP patients admitted to DPNH (1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017), 68 participated and provided informed consent to be followed up. During the first 12months after discharge from the acute psychiatric ward, 23% (

     = 14) never visited a psychiatrist, and 6.5% (

= 4) had a single visit to get prescription for medication. Furthermore, 36.1% (

     = 22) had a rehospitalization during the first 12months. At the end of follow-up period, 34.4% (

= 21) of patients were assigned disability status within a median time of 8months (IQR 4.5‒20.0).

Approximately, one-third of patients did not continue treatment as out-patients after FEP. One-third of FEP patients were assigned disability status. We suggest that Latvia needs improved treatment options for FEP patients, such as early intervention.

Previous evidence has demonstrated that serum leptin is correlated with appetite in combination with, but not without, modest exercise.

The present experiments investigated the effects of exogenous adrenaline and α/β adrenoceptor blockade in combination with moderate exercise on serum leptin concentrations, appetite/satiety sensations and subsequent food intake in obese women.

    A total of 10 obese women ((mean ± SEM), age 50 (1.9) years, body mass index 36 (4.1) kg/m

, waist 104.8 (4.1) cm) participated in two separate, double-blind randomised experimental trials. Experiment 1 moderate exercise after α/β adrenergic blocker (labetalol, 100 mg orally) versus moderate exercise plus placebo; experiment 2 adrenaline infusion for 20 minutes versus saline infusion. Appetite/satiety and biochemistry were measured at baseline, pre- and immediately post-intervention, then 1 hour post-intervention (i.e., before dinner). Food intake was assessed via ad libitum buffet-style dinner.

No differences were found in appetite/satiety, subsequent food intake or serum leptin in any of the studies (experiment 1 or experiment 2). In experiment 1, blood glucose was higher (

< 0.01) and plasma free fatty acids lower (

= 0.04) versus placebo. In experiment 2, plasma free fatty acids (

< 0.05) increased after adrenaline versus saline infusion.

Neither inhibition of exercise-induced adrenergic activity by combined α/β adrenergic blockade nor moderate increases in adrenergic activity induced by intravenous adrenaline infusion affected acute appetite regulation.
