    Error analysis with the G6 system found 94% of pairs in clinically acceptable range by 6-9 h after HU administration. Aspirin, also given once daily, did not result in glucose value discrepancy with the G6 system but variability was observed with the G4 system. Conclusions There was marked elevation of sensor glucose readings compared with glucometer values from 0.5 to 6 h after HU administration.     The Rape Impact Cohort Evaluation Study (RICE) enrolled 852 women age 16-40years exposed to rape from post-rape care centres in Durban (South Africa) and a control group of 853 women of the same age range who have never been exposed to rape recruited from public health services. Descriptive analyses include logistic regression modelling of socio-demographic characteristics associated with recent rape exposure.

Corporatization is one such reform, in which public sector hospitals are granted greater functional independence while remaining publicly owned. In theory, this can improve public hospital efficiency, while retaining a public service ethos. However, the extent to which efficiency gains are realized and public purpose is maintained depends on policy choices about governance and payment systems. We present a case study of Malaysia’s National Heart Institute (IJN), which was created in 1992 by corporatization of one department in a large public hospital. The aim of the paper is to examine whether IJN has achieved the goals for which it was created, and if so, whether it provides a potential model for further reforms in Malaysia and other similar health systems. Using a combination of document analysis and key informant interviews, we examine key governance, health financing and payment, and equity rovides to the Ministry of Health remain unclear. IJN is accountable to a small Ministry of Finance holding company, which means that detailed information required to evaluate these critical questions is not published. The case of IJN highlights that corporatization cannot achieve its stated goals of efficiency, innovation, and equity in isolation; rather it must be supported by broader reforms, including of health financing, payment, governance, and transparency, in order to ensure that autonomous hospitals improve quality and provide efficient care in an equitable way.The aim of this study was to detect the novel copy number variation (CNV) locus of NCAM2 gene in Chinese Holstein, and to analyze the effect of the novel CNV locus in NCAM2 gene on milk composition traits. The novel CNV locus of NCAM2 gene in 310 Chinese Holstein was detected by real-time quantitative fluorescent PCR (qPCR) and association analysis was performed between the novel CNV locus in NCAM2 gene and milk composition traits in Chinese Holstein. There are three CNV types of NCAM2 gene in Chinese Holstein gain (increased copy number), median (normal copy number) and loss (deleted copy number). Statistical analysis revealed that there was a significant association between CNV types and milk fat rate (p  less then  0.05). Moreover, we also discovered that the milk production and milk protein rate of gain type is higher than that of loss type, but that of mediate type is lower than that of loss type. However, in terms of somatic cell score, loss type is higher than that of gain type, but that of mediate type is lower than that of gain type. These observations suggested that gain type can be used as a candidate molecular genetic marker of milk fat rate. Highlights The CNVs of the NCAM2 gene were detected and validated in Chinese Holstein. The type of CNV was successfully implemented using qPCR. The statistical analysis indicated that the CNV of the NCAM2 gene are significantly associated with milk fat rate.As China’s health system is faced with challenges of overcrowded hospitals, there is a great need to better understand the recent patterns and determinants of people’s choice between primary care facilities and hospitals for outpatient care. Based on recent individual-level data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (CHARLS) and official province-level data from China health statistical yearbooks, we examine the patterns of outpatient visits to primary care facilities versus hospitals among middle-aged and older individuals and explore both supply- and demand-side correlates that explain these patterns. We find that 53% of outpatient visits were paid to primary care facilities as opposed to hospitals in 2015, compared to 60% in 2011. Our findings suggest that a high concentration of health care professionals in hospitals diverts patients away from primary care facilities. Staffing the primary care facilities with a well-trained health care workforce is the key to a well-functioning primary care system. The findings also suggest a need to address demand-side inequality issues.
