Alcohol and firearms are commonly involved in suicide in the United States. State alcohol and firearm policies may impact alcohol and firearm related suicide, yet little is known about these relationships. This study examines relationships between state alcohol and firearm policies and suicides involving alcohol, guns, or both, and explores interactive policy associations.
Alcohol policies were assessed with the Alcohol Policy Scale. Firearm policies were assessed using the Gun Law Scorecard from Giffords Law Center. Suicide data from the National Violent Death Reporting System in 2015 covered 22 states. State- and individual-level GEE Poisson and logistic regression models assessed relationships between policies and firearm- and/or alcohol-involved suicides with a 1-year lag.
In 2015, there were 8996 suicide deaths with blood alcohol concentration test results in the 22 included states. Of those deaths, alcohol and/or firearms were involved in 5749 or 63.9%. Higher alcohol and gun law scores were associated with reduced incidence rates and odds of suicides involving either alcohol or firearms (adjusted incidence rate ratios 0.72 (95% CI 0.63, 0.83) for alcohol policies, 0.86 (95% CI 0.82, 0.90) for firearm policies). Relationships were similar for suicides involving both alcohol and firearms, and there was an interactive effect, such that states with restrictive policies for both had the lowest rates of suicides involving alcohol or guns.

Highly performing diagnostic technologies are currently available to early diagnose and accurately monitor several musculoskeletal disorders, but also to guide personalized interventional therapeutic procedures tailored to the individual patients in the emerging process of precision medicine. Among these new modalities, some are particularly promising and thereby subject to several lines of research in RMDs, including SPECT-CT and dual-energy CT, MRI sequences, high and ultra-high frequency ultrasound with effective tools like shear wave elastography.

This study was aimed at assessing the appropriateness of patient assessment and response to an adult diarrheal case among community drug retail outlets in Gondar town, north-west Ethiopia.
A descriptive cross-sectional study design based on simulated-client method of visit was conducted from 03 August to 21 September, 2020. An adult female diarrheal case scenario was developed and used to guide data collectors to interact with professionals in a standardized and consistent way. All 60 dispensaries in the town during the data collection were included in the study. A pretested data collection tool was used to record the conversation between simulated clients and providers. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.

Due to passive blood flow in palliated single ventricle, central venous pressure increases chronically, ultimately impeding lymphatic drainage. Early visualization and treatment of these malformations is essential to reduce morbidity and mortality. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T2-weighted lymphangiography (T2w) is used for lymphatic assessment, but its low signal-to-noise ratio may result in incomplete visualization of thoracic duct pathway. 3D-balanced steady state free precession (3D-bSSFP) is commonly used to assess congenital cardiac disease anatomy. Here, we aimed to improve diagnostic imaging of thoracic duct pathway using 3D-bSSFP.
Patients underwent CMR during single ventricle or central lymphatic system assessment using T2w and 3D-bSSFP. T2w parameters included 3D-turbo spin echo (TSE), TE/TR = 600/2500ms, resolution = 1 × 1 × 1.8mm, respiratory triggering with bellows. 3D-bSSFP parameters included electrocardiogram triggering and diaphragm navigator, 1.6mm isotropic resolution, TE/TR rdiac triggering and respiratory navigation likely help retain lymphatic signal in the retrocardiac area by 3D-bSSFP.
