This study investigated differences in perfectionist traits and commitment between professional and amateur golfers, as well as correlations among perfectionist traits, commitment, and golf handicap. Using simple random sampling, 486 professional golfers (mean age = 22.1 ± 3.0, 52.1% female) and 233 amateur golfers (mean age = 44.8 ± 10.2, 55.8% female) were recruited and assessed using the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS) and Expansion of Sports Commitment Model (ESCM). An ANCOVA, controlling for age, golf career length, and training time, revealed lower MPS self-oriented scores (10.3%; F = 8.9, p less then 0.01; effect size = 0.498) and higher ESCM-Cognition (12.6%; F = 9.4, p less then 0.01; ES = 0.691) and ESCM-Behavior (9.4%; F = 4.6, p = 0.03; ES = 0.479) scores in professional golfers than in amateur golfers. In partial correlations controlling for age, golf career length, and training time, professional golfers’ MPS scores were negatively associated with ESCM-Cognition scores (r = -0.30, p less then 0.001). Professional golfers’ mean golf handicap was positively correlated with MPS total (r = 0.33, p less then 0.01). Altogether, golfers seeking to attain high levels of performance must consider the mental aspect of golfing and find ways to maximize commitment levels while minimizing perfectionist traits. The rate and characteristics of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) bounce post-radiotherapy remain unclear. To address this issue, we performed a meta-analysis. Reports of PSA bounce post-radiotherapy with a cutoff of 0.2 ng/mL were searched by using Medline and Web of Science. The primary endpoint was the occurrence rate, and the secondary endpoints were bounce characteristics such as amplitude, time to occurrence, nadir value, and time to nadir. Radiotherapy modality, age, risk classification, androgen deprivation therapy, and the follow-up period were extracted as clinical variables. Meta-analysis and univariate meta-regression were performed with random-effect modeling. Among 290 search-positive studies, 50 reports including 26,258 patients were identified. The rate of bounce was 31%; amplitude was 1.3 ng/mL; time to occurrence was 18 months; nadir value was 0.5 ng/mL; time to nadir was 33 months. Univariate meta-regression analysis showed that radiotherapy modality (29.7%), age (20.2%), and risk classification (12.2%) were the major causes of heterogeneity in the rate of bounce. This is the first meta-analysis of PSA bounce post-radiotherapy. The results are useful for post-radiotherapy surveillance of prostate cancer patients. The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey (MBI-ES). The presence of burnout syndrome, its relationship with personality traits, intention to change career and work abroad were assessed in a cross-sectional multi-center trial conducted among educators at three medical faculties in the Western Balkans during 2019. Translation and cultural adaptation were made based on internationally accepted principles. Personality traits were assessed by the Big Five Plus Two questionnaire. In total, 246 medical faculty members, predominantly females (61%), were enrolled. The three-factor structure of the MBI-ES questionnaire (exhaustion, cynicism, and professional efficacy) was validated. Analysis of internal consistency yielded a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.785, indicating scale reliability. The majority of respondents (85.6%) reported moderate level of burnout. Aggressiveness, neuroticism, and negative valence were associated with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, while extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, and positive valence correlated with personal accomplishment. Emotional exhaustion and depersonalization in a multivariate regression model were significantly associated with intentions to change career and work abroad (p less then 0.05). The present study provided evidence for the appropriate metric properties of the Serbian version of MBI-ES. Presence of burnout syndrome, which was identified as a common problem in medical academia, and directly linked to personality traits, affected intention to career change and work abroad. This study was conducted in the scope of developing a sustainable effective approach against subterranean termite pests using entomopathogenic and endophytic fungus-based biopesticides. Termites, Odontotermes spp. workers, were tested for their susceptibility to 15 entomopathogenic fungal isolates through the direct spraying of conidia suspensions at 1 × 108 conidia/mL. In general, all the isolates screened were pathogenic, with 100% mortality 4-7 days post-inoculation. However, the most virulent isolates were Metarhizium brunneum Cb15-III; the M. anisopliae isolates ICIPE 30 and ICIPE 60; Hypocrea lixii F3ST1; and the Beauveria bassiana isolates ICIPE 279, ICIPE 706 and ICIPE 662. These isolates were further tested for their endophytic colonization of cocoa seedlings using seed soaking, soil drench and foliar spray at 1 × 108 conidia/mL. The colonization of the plant tissues by the fungi was determined using a culture-based technique. Only the B. bassiana isolates ICIPE 706 and ICIPE 279, and H. lixii F3ST1 colonized the cocoa seedlings, with varied colonization rates among isolates and inoculation methods. Three naturally occurring endophytes-Trichoderma asperellum, Fusarium solani and F. redolens-were also isolated from the cocoa seedling tissues. These findings suggest that cocoa seedlings are conducive to endophytic fungal growth either occurring naturally or from artificial inoculation Our findings could possibly lead to an innovative approach to the management of herbivory and subterranean termite pests in cocoa agroforests. The sparse frequency band (SFB) signal presents a serious challenge to traditional wideband micro-motion curve extraction algorithms. This paper proposes a novel two-dimension (2-D) joint sparse reconstruction and micro-motion parameter estimation (2D-JSR-MPE) algorithm based on compressive sensing (CS) theory. In this technique, the 2D-JSR signal model and the micro-motion parameter dictionary are established based on the segmented SFB echo signal, in which the idea of piecewise effectively reduces the model complexity of ballistic target. With the accommodation of the CS theory, the 2D-JSR-MPE of the echo signal is transformed into solving a sparsity-driven optimization problem. read more Via an improved orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, the high-resolution range profiles (HRRP) can be reconstructed accurately, and the precise micro-motion curves can be simultaneously extracted on phase accuracy. The employment of 2-D joint processing can effectively avoid the interference of the sparse reconstruction error caused by cascaded operation in the subsequent micro-motion parameter estimation.
