Medical information and support needs were reported as unmet by almost one third of parents. The two most endorsed needs were ‘To have the option of whether or not you would pursue genetic testing for yourself or family members’ and ‘To understand what happened’.
This work demonstrates for the first time, the multifactorial needs of parents after SCD in the young. With the greatest unmet need reported as psychosocial needs, there is clear necessity to find ways of integrating psychological support in to the care of families after SCD in the young.

The objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of training low-to-middle-income countries’ local healthcare providers using the Train-the-trainers model in basic colposcopy for cervical cancer prevention.
This project was designed based on a philosophy known as Train-the-trainers which train proficient colposcopists and a cadre of local trainers who can continue to train and maintain their expertise in a self-sustaining system. The Train-the-trainers workshop is a 1-day program that focuses on three domains; knowledge, communication, and practical skills. Trainer candidates were given pre-course reading assignments and presentation decks. The expert trainers provided feedback on their presentations and tips on communication skills. The practical aspects of the training are supported by proficiency at the Loop Electro-excision procedure simulator and their responses to frequently asked questions.
Sixteen physicians from Vietnam attended the Colposcopy Workshop in 2018 and are used as controls trainer candidates trained in the program. Train-the- trainers might be a more sustainable model for organically raising expertise to effectively provide cervical cancer screening and prevention in low-to-middle-income countries.The integrin α6β4 and cytoskeletal adaptor plectin are essential components of type I and type II hemidesmosomes (HDs). We recently identified an alternative type II HD adhesion complex that also contains CD151 and the integrin α3β1. Here, we have taken a BioID proximity labeling approach to define the proximity protein environment for α6β4 in keratinocytes. We identified 37 proteins that interacted with both α6 and β4, while 20 and 78 proteins specifically interacted with the α6 and β4 subunits, respectively. Many of the proximity interactors of α6β4 are components of focal adhesions (FAs) and the cortical microtubule stabilizing complex (CMSC). Though the close association of CMSCs with α6β4 in HDs was confirmed by immunofluorescence analysis, CMSCs have no role in the assembly of HDs. Analysis of the β4 interactome in the presence or absence of CD151 revealed that they are strikingly similar; only 11 different interactors were identified. One of these was the integrin α3β1, which interacted with α6β4 more strongly in the presence of CD151 than in its absence. These findings indicate that CD151 does not significantly contribute to the interactome of α6β4, but suggest a role of CD151 in linking α3β1 and α6β4 together in tetraspanin adhesion structures.Pancreatic cancer (PC) is acquired postnatally; to mimic this scenario, we developed an inducible KrasG12D; Ptf1a-CreER™ (iKC) mouse model, in which Kras is activated postnatally at week 16 upon tamoxifen (TAM) administration. Upon TAM treatment, iKC mice develop pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) lesions and PC with metastasis at the fourth and fortieth weeks, respectively, and exhibited acinar-to-ductal metaplasia (ADM) and transdifferentiation. Kras activation upregulated the transcription factors Ncoa3, p-cJun and FoxM1, which in turn upregulated expression of transmembrane mucins (Muc1, Muc4 and Muc16) and secretory mucin (Muc5Ac). We defined left and right frontal, parietal, and temporal areas as seeds (or regions of interest, ROIs), and measured whole-brain seed-based functional connectivity (FC) and ROI-to-ROI connectivity in subacute right-hemisphere stroke patients. Performance on the line bisection task was associated with decreased FC between the right fusiform gyrus and left superior occipihave traditionally been studied with lesion-symptom mapping, but this method fails to capture the network dynamics that underlie cognitive performance. We studied functional connectivity in patients with right-hemisphere stroke and found a pattern of correlations between the left and right temporo-occipital, inferior parietal, and right insular cortex that were distinctively predictive of deficits in reading, spatial judgment, and visual exploration. This finding reveals the importance of interhemispheric interactions and network adaptations for the manifestation of spatial deficits after damage to the right hemisphere.
