4 ± 1.8ºC and 34.5 ± 1.7ºC respectively;
= 0.01), with a temperature above 34.7ºC being associated with malignancy (sensitivity 76%, specificity 80%;

= 0.91) or tumor grade (
0.46), or between primary and recurring tumors (
0.25).
Infrared thermography proved to be a sensitive and effective method for detection of temperature differences between malignant and benign skin and soft tissue tumors in cats. Thermographic assessment may contribute to diagnosis and prognostic estimation in feline oncologic patients.

Findings can improve our understanding of the role of doctor-patient negotiations and the effects of a practitioner’s questioning style on the patients’ ability to ‘internalize’ their understanding of their body conditions in the TCM context. While questioning is considered an important communication technique when soliciting patients’ problems during consultations, its value in terms of understanding patients’ concerns about issues other than their illnesses has not been explored. Based on consultations of 8 hours in length, our study finds that the use of questions not only can create a space wherein patients can discuss their illnesses and primary concerns, but also enable patients to gain a holistic understanding of their body conditions. This paper informs readers about the techniques that TCM practitioners can use to structure their conversations while delivering patient-centered care, including lexical, grammatical, and cultural resources.The current study aims to assess the reliability of 6 range-of-motion measurement methods for the thumb carpometacarpal joint Pollexograph-thumb, Pollexograph-metacarpal, radius-metacarpal goniometry, intermetacarpal goniometry, intermetacarpal distance, and thumb-distal-interphalangeal distance. A senior hand surgeon, an experienced resident, and a less experienced research fellow evaluated the dominant hands of 29 healthy subjects. All 6 methods were performed for radial adduction, radial abduction, and palmar abduction, but only distance methods were measured for palmar adduction. Intrarater and interrater reliability were computed using intraclass correlation coefficient, standard error of measurement, and smallest detectable difference. Avelumab cell line Pollexograph-thumb method showed the highest active range of movement for radial adduction (12°) and abduction (71°), while all the other angular methods resulted in approximately 20° for radial adduction and 50° for radial abduction. Distance methods showed comparable mean results for radial and palmar range of motion (adduction/abduction) intermetacarpal distance (50 mm/60 mm) and thumb-distal-interphalangeal distance (50 mm/120 mm). Interrater reliability using the results of the intraclass correlation coefficient demonstrates that Pollexograph-thumb and Pollexograph-metacarpal showed excellent reliability for radial adduction and abduction, whereas Pollexograph-thumb method revealed the best reliability for palmar abduction. Moreover, thumb-distal-interphalangeal distance also showed excellent reliability for radial and palmar abduction. Conventional goniometry showed a large variety of reliability results, ranging from poor to excellent. No clinical benefit can be derived from assessing the palmar adduction. We found that the Pollexograph-thumb showed excellent reliability results throughout all measurements. Thumb-distal-interphalangeal-joint distance is especially valuable for assessing radial and palmar abduction.
To analyze prevalence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy.
Clinical retrospective study with patients treated from 2004 to 2014. Charts with incomplete data and follow-up less than 60 days were excluded. Polidocanol foam (Tessari method) was used. The primary outcome was the prevalence of VTE and the secondary were possible risk factors. Chi-square test and Marascuillo prodecure were applied at a significance level of 5%.
2,616 patients were included with 4,712 lower limbs treated. The mean age was 50.7±0.86, in majority female, 83.7%. VTE occurred in 0.49% (pulmonary embolism 0,3%) in a mean time of 44.0±42.2 days. Male gender, personal or family history of phlebitis or DVT and high caliber varicose veins were significantly associated to VTE.
incidence of VTE is low, male gender, personal or family history of VTE and caliber of varicose veins greater than 7 mm increased the risk.

Level III, case-control study.
Level III, case-control study.TFE3 (transcription factor binding to IGHM enhancer 3) nuclear translocation and transcriptional activity has been implicated in PINK1-PRKN/parkin-dependent mitophagy. However, the transcriptional control governing the mitophagy in TFE3/Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma (TFE3 tRCC) is largely unknown. Here, we investigated the role and mechanisms of PRCC-TFE3 fusion protein, one of TFE3 fusion types in TFE3 tRCC, in governing mitophagy to promote development of PRCC-TFE3 tRCC. We observed and analyzed mitophagy, transcriptional control of PRCC-TFE3 on PINK1-PRKN-dependent mitophagy, PRCC-TFE3 fusions nuclear translocation, cancer cell survival and proliferation under mitochondrial oxidative damage in PRCC-TFE3 tRCC cell line. We found that nuclear-aggregated PRCC-TFE3 fusions constitutively activated expression of the target gene E3 ubiquitin ligase PRKN, leading to rapid PINK1-PRKN-dependent mitophagy that promoted cell survival under mitochondrial oxidative damage as well as cell proliferation through decreasing mitochondrial ROS formation.
