Therefore, certain lncRNAs may be considered as therapeutic targets for the treatment of incurable PH. The present review summarizes the latest research on lncRNAs and PH, aiming to briefly describe PH-associated lncRNAs and their mechanisms of action.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been previously implicated in number of diseases. However, the roles of circRNAs in photoaging remain elusive. In the present study, to understand if photoaging influences the levels of circRNA expression, the expression of circRNAs in ultraviolet A (UVA)-irradiated human dermal fibroblasts were profiled. A total of 128 circRNAs were identified to be differentially expressed (fold change >1.5; P less then 0.05) after UVA exposure, including 39 upregulated and 89 downregulated circRNAs. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes biological pathway analyses indicated that the differentially expressed circRNAs were associated with extracellular matrix organization and metabolism. The present study revealed an altered circRNA expression pattern in human dermal fibroblasts following UVA-irradiation. These results provide not only a basis for in-depth study of the mechanism of skin photoaging but also a new possibility for the prevention and treatment of photoaging and associated skin diseases. The present study was an open-label, prospective, uncontrolled and multicenter clinical trial to investigate the safety and effectiveness of bevacizumab (Lumiere®) administered by the intravitreal route for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). A total of 22 patients without previous treatment with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor were recruited. Monthly therapy with 1.25 mg intravitreal bevacizumab was applied. Adverse events (AE), visual acuity (VA) and central retinal thickness (CRT) were assessed at baseline, day 1 and day 28 after each injection. A total of 87 AEs were reported; most of them were not serious (96.6%), expected (65.5%) and occurred after the third injection (56.3%). The most frequent AE was ‘conjunctival hemorrhage’ (29.9% of AEs), attributed to the injection procedure. Treatment was not suspended due to safety reasons in any case. After six months, a statistically significant gain of +8.2 (SD±8.8) letters and a CRT reduction of -75.50 µm (SD±120.3) were achieved with unilateral therapy. VA improvement and CRT reduction were also achieved with bilateral therapy, although to a lesser extent. The results of the present study suggested that therapy with a minimum of 3 doses of bevacizumab over a 6-month period was well tolerated and resulted in a sustained response regarding VA improvement and CRT reduction from the beginning of therapy compared with the baseline value. The study protocol was registered at clinicaltrials.gov (ref. no. NCT03668054).Moyamoya disease (MMD) and dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) are two distinct types of intracranial lesion that share different pathogenic mechanisms. Under rare circumstances, patients with MMD have been reported to have concurrent DAVF. The present case study reports on a 47-year-old male admitted due to sudden headache. Head CT revealed hemorrhage of the right thalamus with ventricular extension. On CT angiography, the normal vasculature in the anterior and posterior circulation disappeared and was replaced by moyamoya-like vessels. The patient received conservative management and was discharged 3 days later. After three months, the patient was readmitted for acute cerebellar hemisphere infarction. Angiogram indicated that the DAVF (Cognard classification Ⅰ) was supplied by the left middle meningeal artery, occipital artery and posterior meningeal artery and drained into the transverse-sigmoid sinus and occipital sinus. Conservative management of the DAVF was adopted. The patient was stable and lived independently during a 4-year follow-up. A literature review of the reported cases was also performed to further characterize this rare entity. The management of DAVF concurrent with MMD depends on its clinical presentation and invasiveness. For patients with symptoms or cortical venous drainage, endovascular intervention should be performed. For asymptomatic DAVFs or those without cerebral venous drainage, close follow-up is a reasonable option. The present study aimed to assess the visual and refractive outcomes of an implantable collamer lens with a central hole (ICL V4c) for residual refractive error correction after corneal refractive surgery in individuals with myopia. A total of 16 eyes of eight consecutive patients with myopia undergoing ICL V4c implantation after corneal refractive surgery were investigated. The uncorrected visual acuity (VA) and best-corrected VA were examined prior to surgery and at 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery. The post-operative values of the modulation transfer function (MTF) cutoff frequency, Strehl ratio (SR), objective scattering index (OSI) and Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS) values (OVs) were quantitatively assessed using an OQAS. At 6 months after surgery, the mean uncorrected LogMAR VA was 0.06±0.10 and the values had improved in 100% of the eyes. The mean MTF cutoff frequency, SR, OSI, OV 100%, OV 20% and OV 9%, were 31.294±4.321 cycles/degree, 0.187±0.039, 1.399±0.274, 1.066±0.261, 0.748±0.287 and 0.509±0.229, respectively. In conclusion, ICL V4c implantation for the correction of residual refractive error after corneal refractive surgery appeared feasible and safe and also had an excellent optical performance. However, long-term changes in visual quality require further investigation.Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a common worldwide progressive neurodegenerative disease. The dysregulation of miRNA is crucial in neurodegenerative diseases and neuron apoptosis during AD and is closely associated with the MAPK pathway. By bioinformatic website, we found that there was target inhibiting relationship between microRNA (miR)-132 and MAPK1. Therefore, the current study speculated that miR-132 could improve the cognitive function of rats with AD by inhibiting MAPK1 expression. To verify our hypothesis, 10 normal rats and 60 rats with AD were selected and divided into model, Ad-miR-132 negative control (NC), Ad-miR-132, Ad-small interfering (si)MAPK1 NC, Ad-siMAPK1 and Ad-miR-132 + Ad-MAPK1 groups. CP-690550 research buy Rats were evaluated for learning by performing morris water maze tests and pathological changes of the hippocampus were assessed via HE staining. Additionally, hippocampus cell apoptosis was determined using a TUNEL assay and levels of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), reactive oxygen species (ROS), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were evaluated in sera via ELISA.
