    The ferric-reducing antioxidant activity power (FRAP), catalase (CAT), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalytic activity were reduced in the liver homogenate of HFD rats compared to the controls. Additionally, the aforementioned liver enzymes activities were reduced in response to HARE. Evaluation of oxidative stress determined a reduction in the MDA level while a raised FRAP was confirmed. In accordance with the present results, histopathological observations have also demonstrated that HARE ameliorated grade-1 hepatic steatosis induced by HFD. As an initial step to address this issue, we conducted a pilot phase 0 trial to determine the levels of tocopherols and their metabolites in prostate cancer patients undergoing radical prostatectomy. The patients were randomized to no supplementation or two capsules of a γ-T-rich vitamin E mixture daily for 7 or 14 day prior to prostatectomy. Blood and urine samples were collected before supplementation and on the day of surgery, along with prostate tissue, for analysis of tocopherols and their metabolites. Estimated blood loss during surgery was not significantly different across treatment arms and there were no reported adverse events. Prostate tissue levels of γ-T and δ-T were increased after 14 day of supplementation. Their side-chain degradation metabolites (CEHCs and CMBHCs) were significantly elevated in plasma, prostate and urine samples after supplementation for 7 or 14 day. In conclusion, supplementation with γ-T-rich vitamin E increased the prostate levels of γ-T and δ-T. Modern SUs as a class of OADs that have demonstrated optimal glucodynamics in terms of glucoconfidence, glucosafety, and gluconomics. Hence, modern SUs are most suitable second line drug after metformin for developing countries. Based on the current evidence, we recommend a glucocratic approach for the treatment of T2DM, where an individualized treatment plan with phenotype, lifestyle, environmental, social, and cultural factors should be considered for persons with T2DM in the South Asian, Middle Eastern and African regions.

    The clinical efficacy of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF) has been widely recognized in recent years. However, there are also disadvantages of bone cement leakage (BCL), limited correction of kyphosis and recovery of vertebral height. Nowadays, in view of these shortcomings, vesselplasty has been widely used in clinical practice. The objective of this study is to assess its clinical effect and application value for the treatment of OVCF with peripheral wall damage.

    62 patients (70 vertebrae) treated for OVCF with peripheral wall damage using vesselplasty retrospectively reviewed. The data collection included operation time, volume of bone cement, relevant surgical complications, visual analog scale (VAS), Oswestry disability index (ODI), vertebral body height and kyphosis Cobb angle.

    The volume of bone cement was 3-8 (5.3 ± 1.3) ml. There were 3 vertebrae of BCL (4.3%). VAS and ODI at different time points after operatiosty is safe and worthy of clinical application.After falling into mental illness as a young man, the British artist Richard Dadd (1817-86) spent some 20 years as a patient at Bethlem Hospital in London.
