Systematic reviews were conducted around each of 22 PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome) questions and the recommendations were formulated, written, and graded using the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) approach. Thirty-one evidence-based recommendations about treatment of NTM pulmonary disease are provided. This guideline is intended for use by healthcare professionals who care for patients with NTM pulmonary disease, including specialists in infectious diseases and pulmonary diseases.
Conventional synthetic DMARDs (csDMARDs) are the first-line treatment for PsA, but there is conflicting data regarding their efficacy and scarce reports describing the duration of use (drug retention) of csDMARD in this population. Their position in treatment recommendations is a matter of growing debate due to the availability of alternative treatment options with higher levels of evidence. We aimed to study drug retention and predictors for drug retention among PsA patients receiving first-line csDMARD monotherapy.
Retrospective cohort study in DMARD-naïve adult PsA patients in whom a first csDMARD was prescribed as monotherapy primarily to treat PsA-related symptoms. The main outcome was time to failure of the csDMARD (i.e. stopping the csDMARD or adding another DMARD).
A total of 187 patients were included, who were mainly prescribed MTX (n = 163) or SSZ (n = 21). Privatization means not only transforming public programs such as Social Security, but also managerialism-the incorporation of business principles, methods, and goals into public and nonprofit human services organizations. Few researchers have looked at the impact of market-based managerialism (focused on productivity, accountability, efficiency, and standardization) on social work’s mission and the effectiveness of human services workers and organizations. Using an anonymous survey of 3,000 New York City human services workers, authors examined the impact of managerialist practices including performance measures, quantifiable short-term outcomes, and routinized practices on frontline workers and service provision. A troubling trend emerged. Workers in agencies with a high commitment to managerialism found it considerably more difficult to adhere to social work’s mission and fundamental values. This conflict between the “logic of the market” and the “logic of social work” subsided dramatically in agencies with a low commitment to managerialism, indicating that even in today’s competitive environment, agencies can protect the social work mission.Biodegradation is simply the metabolism of anthropogenic, or otherwise unwanted, chemicals in our environment, typically by microorganisms.
